VIBES - Very Informed Brothers Engaged for Survival

With African-Americans only making-up approx 13% of the population, why do African-American men who have sex with other men (AAMSM) account for nearly 50% of all new HIV infections??  VIBES is a 6 session behavioral intervention funded by the Illinois Department of Public Health that addresses this problem, by discussing issues that affect these men, such as:  homophobia, sexuality, spirituality & faith, respect for yourself, racism, health & sex – just to name a few.

VIBES is an intervention that is designed for young African-American men, ages 19-29, who identify as Gay, Bisexual, ‘Down Low,’ or identify as heterosexual but have sex with men.  This program is FOR these African-American men and is taught BY African-American men and is open to the first 15 young men who join this study.

Participants will receive dinner at each session, in addition to gift cards, door prizes, and will be eligible for a substantial ‘grand prize,’ for those who complete the intervention.  For more information, please contact our VIBES Instructor, Joseph Greene, at 217-520-3030 or via email at: vibesgroup@yahoo.com.
