I’m so excited to announce that thanks to the support of MCATF volunteers and The Links, Incorporated, our premiere fundraising event, Dining With Friends, has returned! We are asking people to volunteer to become Dining With Friends’ Hosts. As a host, you throw a dinner party (from a catered, black-tie affair, to the back-yard Bar-B-Q or a church potluck) to raise money to help support those living with HIV / AIDS in McLean & Livingston counties. As a host, you invite your own guests, prepare the meal, and then ask for donations (we are not-for-profit ) from your guests. Dining With Friends will connect you with your own DWF ‘Ambassador,’ who is trained to answer all of your DWF questions! They can send you examples of invitations, suggest various themes for your parties, provide informational flyers about the McLean County AIDS Task Force and our Client Services Program, and online access to our Yahoo! Group, where you can exchange your DWF stories, ask for help, download DWF graphics, or even chat with other DWF hosts. Then, all of the hosts, guests, and any other interested parties will be invited to a fabulous Dessert Finale towards the end of the year centered around World AIDS Day! We are proud to announce a major Sponsor of Dining With Friends, The Links, Incorporated, a premier African American women's organization.  Its national membership is approximately 11,000.  Chapters are primarily in the U.S., but there are chapters in the Bahamas as well as Germany.  The Central Illinois Chapter has a membership of 26 women that are from Springfield, Champaign/Urbana, Charleston, St. Louis, and, of course, the Bloomington-Normal area. The Links, Incorporated conducts service projects in the areas of health, education, mentoring, tutoring, youth, senior citizens, teenagers, voter registration, and much more.
