I start each day about the same way. I lay in bed and think about what I have to do that day. I also reflect on the best thing that has happened in that day. I woke up. I am still alive. One more day to live and make a difference. This is the start of each and every day of my life. I am alive and I am thankful for that. There isn’t much else to hold on to to get you throught the day sometimes. You just have to thank the forces that be that you are alive to do something good again.
I have a friend who is going through some rough times with a new job. He thinks he may have gotten himself into a situation that is too much for him to handle. I know this person is scared and it is something new for him. He had just gone from a volunteer position to a paid position to running the office within the matter of a couple of months. He is also HIV+, and trying to have a life. He is a wonderful friend and I know that he will pull on all the resources he has to get the strength to continue living. He is a survivor and he also knows that the best thing that happened to him today was he woke up. He is alive.
I have another friend who is HIV- and has a job that requires discretion and secrecy. He knows the best thing that happened to him today was he woke up and he is alive. He is a wonderful mentor and friend. One of those friends that you may not see or talk to for a year or so but when you see each other again it is like no time has passed. These are the friends we need to surround ourselves with.
I have another friend who is HIV+, living alone and helping to take care of his parents. This is a difficult time of the year for him. He is trying to do his taxes, his parent’s taxes and still live a healthy life. I know he is thankful for the time he is alive. He may call and take out some of his frustrations on me but that is what a friend is for.
We are all thankful for the day and we have woken up. WE ARE ALIVE. There is nothing that we can not do with this day. We may not want to deal with anyone but we are alive to do what we feel we can do.
Have a good day and remember you are alive.
Curtis.
